Power / Battery

The defibrillator's battery must contain enough energy to successfully complete the software upgrade before the upgrade will proceed. The upgrade consumes about 15 minutes of the battery's capacity.

If the battery is too low in capacity to perform the upgrade, the software upgrade program will alert you and will provide information regarding ordering supplies. If the battery is low in capacity but the device still indicates an "OK" status, the software upgrade will complete, however, it cannot predict how soon the battery may become low. The device alarms or readiness indicator provides the status of the battery and should be checked routinely.

If you need to upgrade a large number of devices, you may wish to purchase a battery or batteries solely to be used for upgrading devices. The device's original battery can be removed and then replaced once the upgrade is complete. If this option is chosen, an additional process will be required after reinstallation of the original battery.

The device will need to be turned on for a minimum of 10 seconds. You will need to check the device LCD for no battery or service wrench indications or for the Readiness Indicator (if so equipped) showing a status of "OK". Turn the device off.

One non-rechargeable LIFEPAK 500 lithium ion battery should be able to upgrade 40 or more devices.
