    Collection and Recycling Arrangements in Luxembourg

    Under Regulation 013/2005 for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) which came into force on January 18th 2005, for equipment that you buy from Physio-Control after August 13th 2005, Physio-Control is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. The old equipment that your new purchase from Physio-Control replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.

    Under the Luxembourg WEEE Regulations, Physio-Control is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Physio-Control after August 13th 2005, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.

    Physio-Control products are very competitively priced. Any new increase in operating costs for manufacturers such as Physio-Control is normally reflected in a price increase in the product. However, instead of increasing the prices of our products, Physio-Control has decided to share these new environmental costs directly with our customers. We believe in being transparent with you on any new environmental costs that our products need to address.

    Our approach to sharing these new environmental costs is:

    • Physio-Control pays for the costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE to meet the targets set by the Regulations;
    • Physio-Control pays for the costs of data management and reporting to the Ministry of Environment to demonstrate compliance with all administrative requirements of the Luxembourg WEEE Regulations;
    • you pay for transportation of your WEEE to Physio-Control's appointed recycler in Luxembourg.

    Physio-Control has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN recycling facility in Belgium. All New WEEE that arises from the purchase of Physio-Control products is classed as non-hazardous waste.

    It is your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs of collection and transportation to the recycler. In order to meet waste regulations in Luxembourg, you should use one of the following carriers (which will hold a valid Waste Carriers licence prior to producer take-back obligations beginning in Luxembourg):

    Waste Carrier Telephone Number Website
    Kühne + Nagel + 352 355 1411 www.kn-portal.com

    For larger quantities of waste, you may want to contact the recycler directly to arrange and pay for alternative collection methods. The EARN recycling facility in Luxembourg is:

    Recycler Telephone Number
    Recydel +32 (0)43 709 460

    To comply with the Luxembourg waste transport regulations the transport of your waste to the recycler must be accompanied by suitable documentation.

    In order to comply with this legislation and to enable EARN to identify Physio-Control equipment upon arrival at the recycler's address, please download the Recycling Label for Luxembourger Customers. Complete the label with your company details and attach it to a suitable box for transport to EARN.
